This Privacy Policy describes how PackMate ("we," "our," or "us"), operated by Miller Systems Inc., collects, uses, and protects information when you use our app and website at packmate.millersystems.net.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following information when you use PackMate:

Account information: email address, display name, and profile photo when you create an account.
Profile data: optional bio, date of birth, and gender that you choose to add to your profile.
Trip data: trip names, destinations, travel dates, activities, and packing list items you create within the app.
Collaborator data: email addresses of people you invite to share a trip.
Dependent information: names and details of travel companions (children, family members) that you add to your account.
Payment information: if you choose to support PackMate with a Pro contribution, payment is processed securely by Stripe. We do not store your card details.

2. How We Use Your Information

To provide and operate the PackMate service.
To generate AI-powered packing suggestions based on your trip destination and dates.
To display weather forecasts relevant to your trip.
To enable trip collaboration with people you invite.
To send account-related emails (email verification, password reset).
To grant Pro access after a successful contribution.

3. Third-Party Services

PackMate uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy practices:

Firebase (Google): Authentication, database storage, and hosting. Firebase Privacy Policy.
Google Gemini AI: Powers AI packing list generation. Your trip destination, dates, and activities are sent to Gemini to generate suggestions. Google AI Terms.
Stripe: Processes Pro contributions. Stripe handles all payment data securely. Stripe Privacy Policy.
Open-Meteo: Provides weather forecast data for your trip dates. Trip destination and dates are sent to retrieve forecasts.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. Your data is only shared with the third-party services listed above as necessary to operate PackMate.

5. Data Retention

Your data is stored in Firebase Firestore and retained as long as your account is active. You may delete your account at any time from the Profile tab in the app, which permanently removes your profile and trip data.

6. Children's Privacy

PackMate is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

7. Security

We use Firebase Authentication and Firestore security rules to protect your data. Payment data is handled entirely by Stripe and never stored on our servers.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of PackMate after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
